10 Thoughts Review on GI Joe A Real American Hero #158 by Larry Hama and Agustin Padilla

10 Thoughts, Reviews

1. With US security co-opted by Cobra and the Joes hunted, they reach the rallying point for their counter-offensive.

2. In true Joe fashion, the rallying point ends up being the Cobra base, as a frontal assault distracts from Snake Eyes and Scarlett sneaking in.

3. That would be effective were Storm Shadow not waiting. He fights Snake Eyes, wounding his leg, while Scarlett tries to distract him, eventually succeeding in allowing Snake Eyes to knock out his rival. Scarlett then attempts to continue the mission with Snake Eyes on her shoulders, a fact that saves her from Arishakage ninja Billy, Cobra Commander’s son, who fails to recognize her footsteps due to the extra weight.

4. Duke’s team leads the frontal assault, with Stalker, Mainframe, Roadblock and Rock and Roll storming the gates and driving Cobra back.

5. Hawk, while all of this occurs, avoids capture by calling in favors from the country’s higher ups. He will naturally have a great plan that will change everything, like Hannibal of A-Team.

6. Destro, Billy and Baroness all retreat to save Cobra Commander, who is having trouble getting in his battle suit in his Cobra underoos. A confrontation will clearly occur in that chamber.

7. Zartan is the only major Cobra not present and heading to the chamber, as he goes to distract the Joes by looking like Snake Eyes.

8. I wonder where the rest of the Joes are.

9. The art throughout is excellent, except in the early scene where Snake Eyes and Scarlett fight in the sewer, which is muddled.

10. Rating: 7/10 – This is getting good, with the Joes plan coming together. How perfect is it that their rallying point is also their counter-offensive. This is just perfect classic Joe.
