Felix Sturm, Jorge Solis, & Omar Nino All Winners

News

Felix Sturm retained his WBA Middleweight title earlier tonight in Cologne, Germany with a unanimous decision over Giovanni Lorenzo. Scores were 118-111, 117-111 and 117-111. Due to Sturm’s inactivity, Gennady Golovkin emerged as an interim champion in Sturm’s absence. Sturm has plenty of international options for his next fight, provided he doesn’t take another 14 months off.

Also in action on Saturday, Jorge Solis retained his super featherweight title with a 6th round TKO of Francisco Cordero in Guadalajara, Mexico. Cordero was down in the first and fourth, leading to the stoppage in the sixth.

Omar Nino was also victorious, as he successfully defended his WBC Light Flyweight title over Ronald Barrera. The fight was stopped when Barrera failed to rise from his stool to start the 7th round.
