Yuirorkis Gamboa Wins Wild One Over Orlando Salido

Yuriorkis Gamboa unified the WBA and IBF Featherweight titles with a unanimous decision over Orlando Salido at the Palms in Las Vegas. The fight came to a crazy finish when Gamboa put Salido down twice in the 12th round but Gamboa was also deducted 2 points for hitting Salido while he was down. Salido put Gamboa down in the 8th but the Cuban wasn’t hurt. Scores were 116-109, 114-109, and 115-109.

On the undercard, Brandon Rios defeated Anthony Peterson in a battle of unbeaten lightweights. The official verdict was Rios by DQ in the 7th, after Peterson landed another low blow after constant warning from the referee. Peterson was deducted two points for low blows in the 6th round. Rios was ahead in the fight so the right man won regardless of the ruling. Rios put Peterson down at the end of the 5th round.
