Drumroll please! The new Man Without Fear is… not Daredevil?

News, Top Story

Yeah, I didn’t expect that one either. The news was dropped Tuesday night by the lovely Blair Butler on the godawful Attack of the Show (which I might have to start watching again if this sort of thing is going to happen more often.)

The creative will be novelist David Liss, a relative newcomer to comics, and artist Francesco Francavilla who drew all five of the “Who Will Be The New Man Without Fear?” teasers (and is the artist on the recently announced Jim Gordon co-feature for Detective Comics.)

According to Butler the series “finds the Black Panther living outside of his kingdom and rebuilding his life without any of his trademark tech.”

Not really sure how to feel about this one folks. I lost track of Panther somewhere between his being put into a coma and being replaced by his sister (and Doorwar stank of too much awful for me to consider picking up.) As Grey put it, the bright side to this, we might finally see T’Challa in the hands of a competent writer.

The downside is that Gambit isn’t the new Man Without Fear.

C’est la vie.
