Chael Sonnen to appeal positive drugs test

News

While the fighter himself is maintaining his uncharacteristic silence, Chael Sonnen’s manager Mike Roberts told MMA Fighting that the former middleweight contender will be appealing his positive test and resulting suspension. Roberts said that “It is our policy not to comment on pending actions by the Athletic Commission. Chael is consulting with his legal advisors and physicians and will have a statement in the near future. Chael will file an appeal with the CSAC and looks forward to working with the Commission to resolve this matter”. The next meeting of the California State Athletic Commission is December 2nd, so Chael Sonnen will have to move quickly if he’s to have any appeal heard in time to have even an outside chance of saving his planned February title match against Anderson Silva.
