Morning: Croatian website index.hr first reports that Mirko Cro Cop suffered an eye injury and his bout against Frank Mir this Saturday was in question.

Afternoon: Frank Mir’s wife confirms the rumor through her Twitter account by saying “The injury rumor is not false Frank got a call earlier today… They told Frank yes he was injured but he will not be pulling out of the fight.”

Afternoon: Dana White Twitters about the situation, attempting to lay the rumors to rest. “Cro Cop is fine, rumor is not true.”

September 19th, 2010 (Sunday)

Afternoon: Cro Cop himself confirms the injury through Fighters Only Magazine. “It was the very last minute of the very last round of the very last sparring… We were sparring in UFC gloves and my sparring partner – who is about 120 kilos, Croatia’s best thai boxer – he poked me in the eye. The pain was like… I cant even describe it, the pain was so big I thought he had blinded me.”

Morning: Major gambling sites, including Bodog, take down the Mirko Cro Cop vs. Frank Mir match as an option to bet on, which usually means the fight has been canceled. The fact that it remained on a number of smaller sites, and a couple bigger sites gives hope that the fight was not officially canceled.

Evening: After examination on Cro Cop’s eye, the Indiana State Athletic Commission says the injury is a “non-issue” and will be able to fight on Saturday, reports Sherdog. The only hurdle left in Cro Cop’s way is the pre-fight examination all fighters undergo before fight night.

Evening: Dana White has the last laugh on the matter after he Twitters, “How many times do I have to tell u guys not to listen to internet BS? Cro Cop is 100% and fighting on sat.”

This timeline will be updated with whenever news hits on the matter, so make sure you keep coming back to Inside Fights for the latest news!
