NFL News: New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards Arrested For DUI

News

Edwards was arrested Tuesday morning, just days after the teams big win over the Patriots in week 2.

Edwards was pulled over for having overly-tinted windows on his Range Rover. Police smelled alcohol on his breath and gave Edwards a breathalyzer. Edwards reportedly blew a .16, twice the legal limit.

“We are very disappointed in Braylon’s actions this morning,” said Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum. “The Player Protect program is in place for our organization to prevent this situation. Braylon is aware of this program and showed poor judgment.”

DUIs are reviewed under the NFL’s substance-abuse policy but there is no automatic suspension. Edwards has had problems with the law before, pleading no contest to misdemeanor aggravated disorderly conduct after punching a man outside a Cleveland nightclub last year.
