NHL News: Boston Bruins Center Marc Savard May Miss Entire Season

Savard is still dealing with post-concussion issues.

Savard suffered a grade II concussion when he was leveled by a blindside hit from Pittsburgh’s Matt Cooke. Savard missed the rest of the regular season, but returned for the Eastern Confrence Finals.

Savard had reportedly been working out all summer with no symptoms, but then late in the summer the symptoms started back up for Savard.

Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said it was possible Savard would miss the entire season, but also said it was possible Savard’s symptoms would clear up and he could be back “in short order.”

“I’m not going to go into that because it is uncertain,” Chiarelli said. “We’re giving it care and treatment. It could be two weeks. It could be a month. I don’t know. It would be unfair for me to give you a timeframe because I don’t know the timeframe. But what I can tell you is that in talking to him, he is in a good frame of mind and is anxious to get back.”
