When it comes to recent comic-book movies, what I’ve liked about Tony Stark is that he seems more fragile than other superheroes. Most heroes have some baggage, but Tony Stark has a lot of baggage (mostly filled with booze). While I do think Marvel and Paramount toned down his use of alcohol in the sequel, it’s clear why they went ahead and ditched this alternate opening. Luckily, it will be found on the upcoming Iron Man 2 DVD/Blu-ray release.

The screen is black when we hear our hero scream “Oh God…” Fading from black, Stark is hovered over a toilet bowl post-puking incident. The scene continues with Tony wanting to not go through with the stunt, to which Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) badgers about to no end. If you saw some of the earlier trailers, you may remember Tony’s “You complete me” line which is present here. Overall, Jon Favreau made the right decision by going with the opening that appears in the film.
