Training camp is about to begin, and the Warriors are thinking about making a coaching change.
Don Nelson is the winningest coach in league history, but may not add to that total with the Warriors this season. The Warriors are reportedly working to replace Nelson as head coach with assisstant coach Keith Smart.
The Contra Costa Times newspaper reported that Nelson will technically resign, but sources close to the situation said Nelson was hoping to be enthusiastically received this week after returning to Oakland from his offseason home in Maui.
Nelson has one year and $6 million left on his contract and will be paid the full amount regardless of whether he coaches the team or not.
