Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard II to headline UFC125

News

MMA Fighting is reporting that the World Lightweight Title fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard will headlined UFC 125, which takes place on New Year’s Day 2011 from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Arena. This will be a rematch of their 2008 meeting where Maynard controlled Edgar with his superior strength and size, securing victory after a all three judges scored the fight 30-27 in his favor. That victory and his undefeated status is obviously at the forefront of the bookmakers’ minds, as Maynard is the initial favorite despite being the challenger.

He had originally been thought that Anderson Silva would defend his World Middleweight Title on this show but due to injured ribs its more likely that he will face Vitor Belfort in February, in the main event of the UFC’s annual ‘Superbowl Weekend’ show.
