After Kell Brook had successfully defeated Michael Jennings in a WBO Welterweight Eliminator on September 18th’s Magnificent Seven Sky Box Office pay per view, his promoter Frank Warren talked about Brook possibly fighting for a world title by the end of the year, if current champion Manny Pacquiao vacated.
That doesn’t seem likely to happen, with Warren’s own website releasing a news story about how the veteran British promoter had spoken with Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum about the possibility of Brook facing Mike Jones in a Interim WBO World Welterweight Title fight sometime next year. Such a fight would pit the fighters ranked first and second by the WBO against each other. But first both must overcome their next opponents, with Jones facing Jesus Soto Karas on the undercard of Pacquiao-Margarito while Brook is expected to fight on Warren’s 30th Anniversary show on December 11th. Warren and Arum openly discussing a possible fight for the Interim Title will only add to the speculation surrounding Manny Pacquiao’s future at 147Ibs.
