MLB News: New York Mets Set To Get Rid Of Jerry Manuel And GM Omar Minaya

News

The Mets have been a disappointment, and the coach and GM will suffer the wrath.

Reports out of New York say that both manager Jerry Manuel and GM Omar Minaya will be excused from their positions after this weekend.

The Mets are reportedly looking at Joe Garagiola Jr. and Sandy Alderson to fill the positions although no official word has come from the Mets yet.

Minaya has two years left on his current contrat worth about $1 million annually. The Mets will not owe Manuel any money. The guaranteed portion of his contract expires at season’s end. While team officials have been complimentary of Manuel’s performance, he is getting caught up in the shakeup above him.
