WBC Welterweight champion Andre Berto will return to the ring on November 27 as part of an HBO tripleheader, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com.
Andre Berto (26-0, 20 KOs) will defend his welterweight title against Freddy Hernandez (29-1, 20 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The card will open up with Celestino Caballero vs. Jason Litzau and will be headlined by Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Michael Katsidis.
Andre Berto hasn’t fought since his April TKO of Carlos Quintana. Hernandez, on the other hand, just fought on September 17 in a TKO win over Mike Anchondo. The involvement of Hernandez does, however, give me a chance to mention my favorite name in boxing. Hernandez’s only loss came to Golden Johnson in 2005.
