Victory at UFC 121 will secure Jake Shields a Welterweight Title Shot

News

Speaking at today’s UFC 124 Press Conference, Dana White told reporters that a win on October 23rd should secure Jake Shields the next shot at the World Welterweight Champion. Despite the fact that he is yet to make his UFC debut, the former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion and EliteXC Welterweight Champion comes into the organization with a stellar record being on a fourteen win streak that includes victories over the likes of Dan Henderson, Paul Daley and Yushin Okami.  It had been expected that Jon Fitch would get to face the winner of George St. Pierre and Josh Koscheck but it seems that Fitch’s insipid performance against Thiago Alves has cost him the title shot.
