Many reports came out Tuesday stating that the Braves had hired Fredi Gonzalez to replace Bobby Cox who was officially retired Monday when the Braves lost to the Giants in the NLDS.

Fredi Gonzalez managed the Flordia Marlins for 3 1/2 years before being fired in June this season. He posted a 276-279 record with one of baseball’s lower payrolls.

Gonzalez is familar with the Braves organization, working as a minor league manager and as the Braves 3rd base coach under Cox before being hired by the Marlins.
