Fedor Emelianenko Close to Finalizing Future with Strikeforce

News

Talking to MMA Junkie, M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelchtein said that talks about the future of legendary heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko are reaching a climax, with an announcement about whether the last ever Pride Heavyweight Champion will sign a new contract with Strikeforce expected shortly. Finkelchtein explained that they had been talking primarily with Showtime, hoping to secure a deal where M-1 Global events are carried on the premium network. If he doesn’t sign a new deal then his next fight in the Strikeforce cage will be his last. Either way M-1 Global are giving nothing away about who they want Emelianenko to fight next, saying that “I think fans just want to see Fedor fight and don’t necessarily care who the opponent is…I know that Fedor doesn’t care either”.
