UFC and THQ sign contract extension until 2018

News

In a surprise move the UFC has announced an extension to its contract with THQ, with the new deal running until 2018. It had been expected that at the end of the previous deal the UFC would put the rights to produce its video games on the open market. Instead the organization has placed its trust in the makers of UFC Undisputed even after the sequel to the tremendously successfully 2009 edition failed to meet industry sales expectations. In response to these disappointing sales, there will now only be a new game in the series every other year as opposed to the previously planned annual updates. The companies are however pressing ahead with plans to develop the UFC Trainer fitness game for release early next year.
