Mark Wahlberg to Star in Seth MacFarlane’s Ted

Casting News, News, Projects

Mark Wahlberg has had quite the year. Having been one of the few saving graces in the dismal Date Night, he’s also coming off the successful buddy comedy The Other Guys with Will Ferrell. Now he’s currently in negotiations to star in another buddy comedy. But his buddy won’t be human; it’s a life-size, walking-talking teddy bear.

Ted as it is titled is an R-rated comedy that marks the directorial debut of Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. The story revolves around a Boston native (Wahlberg) who made a childhood wish that his teddy bear would come to life – and it does. Years later, the bear remains his best friend, but he’s a bit of a slacker, and comes in between the girl he loves. MacFarlane will provide the voice of the bear, which will be a CG creation in the live-action film.

Wahlberg’s next film, The Fighter, opens in theatres on December 10, 2011.
