Mark Hominick to Meet George Roop at “UFC Fight Night 23: Fight for the Troops 2″ this January

Just because they train under Shawn Tompkins in Las Vegas, that doesn’t mean that teammates Mark Hominick and George Roop can’t face off in the UFC. The fighters are currently in talks for a featherweight bout between the two for “UFC Fight Night 23: Fight for the Troops 2″ this January.

A source close to the event confirmed the match up with Heavy.com earlier today.

“UFC Fight Night 23: Fight for the Troops 2″ is rumored to originate on January 22 from Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas and the main card will be broadcast live and free on Spike TV. The main event of the evening with feature a lightweight battle between Kenny Florian and Evan Dunham.

Both fighters are coming off of wins, with Hominick earning a split-decision victory over former 145lbs top contender Leonard Garcia at “WEC 51: Aldo vs. Gamburyan” in September and Roop garnering a big KO kick over “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung via headkick.
