Jessica Alba: “Good Actors Never Use The Script”

News

In the December edition of Elle magazine, Jessica Alba says in an interview that good actors never use the script unless it’s amazing writing.

“All the good actors I’ve worked with, they all say whatever they want to say,” Alba said.

Alba’s statement has brought the extremely polite wrath of the wordsmith John August down upon the actress. August, writer of films such as Big Fish, Charlie’s Angels and Go, wrote a blog post in which he calls the actress out on her claim — pointing out that according to Alba’s logic she has never been in a movie with both good actors and amazing writing.

August’s blog is a fascinating read for those interested in the world of screenwriting. His posts offer a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to get to the point where words are coming out of the actors’ mouth — whether or not they are the same words that were written.
