10 Thoughts On… South Park Coon vs. Coon & Friends Episode 14-13

10 Thoughts, Top Story

We’re in part 3 of the epic Coon & Friends trilogy. Does the ending satisfy? Let’s find out!

Do You Know What It Feels Like?

1. The episode starts with a comic-style story told from the point of view of… Mint Berry Crunch! Much like the Coon/Cartman comics, the Mint Berry Crunch comic is told self-centeredly from his own point of view. His real name is Bradley Biggle

2. After that intro, the other boys grill MBC on his powers and costume. They just don’t get it.

3. Stan tells Kenny/Mysterion that it would be pretty cool to not be able to die, but Kenny gets mad and insists it does hurt. Then he blows his head off and kills himself, freaking out the boys. Later, though, he does indeed just wake up in his bed like nothing has happened.

4. Back to Cartman/The Coon, in his latest comic, the other Coon & Friends have all turned into super-villains, and only The Coon with Cthulu is a hero for the good of the world.

5. To get past his mom, Cartman uses the “Lebron James” technique by asking “what should i do?”. I liked it better when they did the mock ads, this was less subtle and too overt and unfunny. Confused, Cartman’s mom goes to make lemonade.

6. Cartman tricks the other Coon & Friends outside with the promise of a DOUBLE RAINBOW. Mint Berry Crunch leads them excitedly – but when it’s a trap to feed them to Cthulu, MBC flees the scene. He heroically goes to watch Judge Judy! Awesome.

7. It appears that Bruce Villanch has appeared wearing a rat costume. Ha! Then The Coon has Cthulu vaporize that reporter.

8. Mint Berry Crunch’s sister is one of the Goth Kids. Mysterion approaches them for help with Cthulu, and they compare him to Obama – he promised things would change and they’re still sitting there smoking cigarettes.

9. I loved in the final confrontation of Mysterion and the Coon that Cartman just calls him “Kenny” the whole time. I wonder at what point between the first Coon episode and this trilogy that Cartman figured out that Mysterion was Kenny.

10. It turns out that Mint Berry Crunch is the one with powers all along! He had an AMAZING array of Mint Berry and Crunch powers, including pelting Cthulu with berries, then mint leaves.

Quotes:
Mint Berry Crunch: Shablagoo!

Stan Dude you’re freaking out Mint Berry Crunch, he’s just peed his pants.

Mint Berry Crunch: No, no, Mint Berry Crunch doesn’t ever pee his pants!

The Coon: Even Cthulu knows what evil assholes Stan and Kyle and those guys are and that they are m, uncaring vagina-faces.

Mint Berry Crunch: How is it that Mint and Berry came together delivering full flavor and intense crunch?

Overall:
A fun and eventful final part to the Coon & Friends trilogy, albeit with a few lame parts like Justin Bieber or the second, less funny Lebron James joke of the trilogy. They also veered away from too much political talk in this final part, focusing more on the ridiculous super hero storylines and that is when the show is at its best. Only one more new South Park of 2010 :(
