Well, for one thing, Magog’s murder/suicide at the hands of Max Lord happened in public, and Max ‘doesn’t exist’, so everyone saw Captain Atom execute Magog. On top of that, Magog’s staff went critical and Atom had to absorb it all. Well, it didn’t go according to plan, and when all was said and done he was shunted off to the future once again, leaving a giant crater in the middle of a city, and an untold death toll.
