When it was first announced that Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison would bring the popular Internet short, Pixels, to theatres, speculation was to be had. A two-minute video is one thing, but could it be extended to a full-length feature?
Well, with the announcement that Tim Herlihy, who has worked with Adam Sandler on Saturday Night Live, and movies Billy Madison and The Wedding Singer, would write the adaptation we’ll soon find out if the Internet short is ready for the big screen.
My question is why not just have the short’s writer-director Patrick Jean write the adaptation? Since Happy Madison saw the short’s potential as an action comedy, surely they would have Jean involved in some capacity, at the very least as a consultant.
