New Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark Images Swing Onto Web

News, Projects

Vogue has hired famed photographer Annie Leibovitz to take new photographs for Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, a $60 million musical from director Julie Taymor based on the popular Marvel Comics character.

The photographs give fans a clear look at the musical’s heroes and villains — including Spider-Man, Green Goblin and Carnage. The pictures, seemingly heavily Photoshopped and high in camp, seemed designed purely as a way to make fanboys’ heads explode.

The musical was recently pushed back from its December release to January 2011. Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark features music by Bono and The Edge and stars Reeve Carney, Jennifer Damiano, Patrick Page, Sean Samuels and Collin Baja. I, for one, can’t wait to check out this sure-to-be disaster in the making.
