Dan Henderson Has No Plans to Retire; Committed to Light Heavyweight

As he prepares for his December 4th Strikeforce headlining bout with Renato “Babalu” Sobral, MMA legend Dan Henderson said that he feels great and that it’s highly unlikely to be the final bout for the 13-year MMA veteran.

During the media conference call, Henderson stated, “I have always felt comfortable at 205. I have never felt weak or out-powered. I can eat a good meal the night before the fight. … It’s one less thing I need to worry about before the fight. I am hanging out at 203, 204 (pounds).”

Henderson left the UFC in late 2009 and headlined Strikeforce’s return to CBS airwaves this past April in a match-up with then Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Jake Shields. The network devoted most of its promotional push for the event to Henderson, rather than reigning champ Shields and Shields paid back their trust in him with a dominant performance over a clearly exhausted Henderson. Shields earned the unanimous decision that night and headed to UFC ASAP.
