Thiago Silva and Brandon Vera to Face Off on “UFC 125: Resolution” Main Card

News

Once upon a time, there was an incredibly compelling Light Heavyweight encounter that wasn’t getting any PPV love…until today that is. Thiago Silva vs. Brandon Vera, once banished to the annals of website “live coverage”, will see the light of day after being promoted to the pay-per-view main card of “UFC 125: Resolution.” UFC 125 takes place January 1st, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a UFC Lightweight title fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.

Vera vs. Silva is likely taking the spot that opened when UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo had to drop out of his UFC 125 co-headliner against Josh Grispi due to injury. Grispi will now face Dustin Poirier in a bout on the preliminary card.

With several compelling bouts on the preliminary card, one would hope that we would receive confirmation that a SPIKE TV “UFC Preliminary” special would be tied to this event. We wouldn’t want to miss out on other great fights like Marcus Davis vs. Jeremy Stephens, Mike Brown vs. Diego Nunes, Phil Baroni vs. Brad Tavares, and Grispi vs. Poirier.
