Kenny Florian Forced to Withdraw from UFC Fight Night 23 [UPDATED]

News

Due to an undisclosed injury, perennial lightweight contender Kenny Florian has had to pull out of his main event match at UFC Fight Night 23: UFC Fight for the Troops 2 against Evan Dunham. The event takes place Jan. 22 at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.

According to MMAjunkie.com, Florian suffered an undisclosed knee injury in training and has been forced to withdraw from the bout.

As of yet, the UFC has yet to announce the change, and it’s currently unknown whether a replacement opponent will be found or if the matchup will be pushed back to a later date, Melvin Guillard will step in and replace Florian in the main event.

Both fighters were coming off losses in their last contest; Florian to Gray Maynard at UFC 118 in August in a number one contender’s bout via unanimous decision and Dunham to former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk in September via split decision.
