Kue’s Korner: The Miz & The Palace of Wisdom

Columns, Top Story

Cross the curious threshold and curve the cornerstone as it culminates into the climatic, the courageous, the courteous: Kue’s Korner. I’m your ever so humble host, Jonah Kue, and I’ll be doing this shindig weekly for your literary pleasure. As far as intros go, I’m a wrestling fan who loves to write. That’s all that’s really needed, right? You can follow me on Twitter @jonahkue.

Now, obviously, this is a great time to be a wrestling fan, what with the road to Wrestlemania right around the corner. Even more distinguishing about this particular time is that we all smell it like snow before the fall: there’s a new era emerging in WWE. One heralded by our “awesome” friend’s conquering the top prize in the business. So, what, my fellow ring watchers, does this indicate? Well, for one, opportunity. Glass doors and ceilings previously barred are now shattered. And with all this opportunity, here’s one of the ways WWE can pull an Edge.

It’s ironic how the barely running tag team division that’s become characteristic of our beloved WWE has the potential to create one of the most amazing rivalries we could be privileged to witness. And the timing couldn’t be any better. Ever since the Miz and Morrison had their roll of a tag team severed by the 2009 draft and the ever-predictable back stabbing by the Miz, we’ve been waiting for the blow off to put a memorable cap to this lovely little Michaels-Jannetty formula.

Unfortunately, due to the draft, and their respective singles careers, our eyes have yet to gaze on said cap (well, besides 2009’s Bragging Rights and the subtle feuding thereafter). Yet, now, we may be on the verge, finally, to see the climax of what may be the feud to define the next generation of the WWE.

Against all odds, the Miz is champion. Not to be redundant, this opens up a whole slew of new feuds and rivalries, not only with top tier talent via Orton, Cena, Barrett, Sheamus, etc, but against potential main eventers in the form of Bryan, Truth, and, of course, our current resident in the Palace of Wisdom.

Now, it’s obvious the newly-replenished creative staff is slowly building the Bryan-Miz feud with great promise. Thing is, after the feud with Sheamus pushes Morrison up a few notches, where will he go from there? It’s no secret that Morrison has received less than stellar success as a face. But as his mini feud with the Miz has shown in 2009, the two bring out the best in each other, promo and otherwise.

Call it a stretch, but this potential feud for the title may be the one thing Morrison needs to push him towards a legitimate main event status. And if these two deliver like they’ve proven they can, there’s only one thing the rest of the roster will be able to do: be jealous.

See you next week ’round the korner (shut up, it’s funny).

I like my wrestling almost as much as I do my coffee. And I do love my coffee, as you can tell how much it's affected my skin tone.
