10 Thoughts on WWE Superstars 12.09.2010 — Zack Ryder, Eve Torres, Curt Hawkins

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

1. Who is Jack Korpela, and why does it look like I could fit him in my pocket? Oh well, better than Cole.

2. With all the releases in the last few weeks, JTG seemed to have something to prove. He didn’t look awful tonight, against Tyler Reks. Still not what you want, but a lot better than he has been. For once, his personality and gimmick did not overshadow the nitty-gritty of it all.

3. Fresh crop of Rookies! They seem to be a dramatic improvement, but that’s based off of the last season, so…

4. Interesting to see Hawkins and Not Fired Dudebuster matched up again. I prefer variety, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The chemistry between the two is tangible, and both grow tremendously, each time. Their spots have such fluidity and realism—a great contrast from the perfectly rehearsed stuff you often see.

5. Along the same lines, these two are absolute gold once they move outside the ring. I feel that they are really in their element once they break through the confines of the ring.

6. Big Zeke’s size consistently floors me. I seem to always forget how large and in charge he is.

7. Zack Ryder looked phenomenal against Big Zeke. I don’t see a real place for him above where he’s at, at the moment, but I hope that changes. He has a gimmick that just works, and the man is amazing in the ring. He can do no wrong, in my eyes.

8. I like that the women have been given main event privileges as often as they have. Granted, some are better suited wrapped around someone’s arm on the way to the ring. But I like when LayCool and Gail Kim are given those honors. It’s one of the few times the women are taken seriously.

9. Between the halfway exposed scalp and yet another botched spot, I feel appalled that Alicia Fox is a former champion. She barely gives her opponents a shot at looking good, and it does little to earn respect for the Divas. But Eve’s top rope moonsault helps.

10. Random Thought Of The Week: Okay, I’ll say it. I like the generic rock songs that are used as entrances. Daniel Bryan’s first song was great, Kaval’s song is excellent, and Tyler Reks’s song really does pump you up. Is that so wrong?
