Being built as the first big film of summer 2011, Thor marks a return for Kenneth Branagh behind the camera (his last film was the 2007 remake Sleuth). The film will span the Marvel Universe – from present day Earth to the mythical realm of Asgard. Chris Hemsworth stars as the powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Hemsworth is joined by Academy Award nominee Natalie Portman (who plays Jane Foster), Tom Hiddleston is Loki, and Sir Anthony Hopkins is Odin.
Thor plans to “hammer” the competition when it opens in theaters (in both 2D and 3D) in the U.S. on May 6, 2011.
