New Venom Series On The Way By Uncanny X-Force Writer Rick Remender

News, Press Releases, Top Story

Now, anyone that knows me knows that I’ve never been a fan of Venom. Or Carnage for that matter, but he’s not really important right now. Not a Venom fan, and in large part it’s always been because I’ve never really gotten the feeling that anybody writing him had any clue just what the hell they were doing with him. He went from psychological Spider-Man villain, to superhero that kills, to eating brains, to there being a ton of symbiotic offspring, working for the government, good again, bad again, became the Marvel equivalent of John Carpenter’s The Thing, merging with Scorpion, Dark Avengers, and now present. He gets a status quo change every few years, and for some reason it’s always bugged me.

So I guess that’s why it’s weird that this time I’m kinda interested. Maybe it’s that Rick Remender has built up enough credit in my book, or maybe I just like the pitch, but who knows, maybe this new take on Venom is what the character needs.

But far more likely he’ll be back to insane villain again sooner than later.
