A heavyweight clash between the up-and-coming “The Ultimate Fighter 10” runner-up and former UFC Heavyweight champion Frank Mir could be coming early in 2011.
The presumed date for the encounter would need to be determined and with the as-yet-announced events in March (UFC on Versus 3 and UFC 129) are taking place on March 3rd and March 19th, respectively, UFC might target those dates for the bout.
Mir’s last fight was in a largely lethargic bout with Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic as the main event at UFC 119 in September. That fight eventually end via knockout when Mir delivered a massive knee to the Croatian’s fan favorite.
Since losing the final bout of season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter to Roy Nelson, Brendan Schaub has recorded TKO wins over Chase Gormley and Chris Tuchscherer, and an impressive unanimous decision win over Gabriel Gonzaga.
