Pulse Wrestling WWE NXT Report: 12.14.2010 – Daniel Bryan, Chris Masters, Jacob Novak

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

Well, hello there, fellow fans of fighting of the farce kind. Hope you’re strapped in and seated properly for the second episode of NXT Season 4. Let’s start the ride, shall we?

Stryker, dressed eloquently, brings in our rookies ring-wise and our pros stage-side. Apparently we’re judging the newbies’ character and entertainment value through……a karaoke contest.

Immunity Challenge via Karoake Contest

And the category is WWE themes. O’Brian does Sheamus. Pass the pencil this way. The brain needs stabbing. Bateman is up and tries his hand at the Miz. And makes up for his terrible rendition by sucking up to the crowd. Novak disgraces his pro’s theme, Dolph Ziggler. “I’m a professional athlete, don’t boo me!” Sounds rather LeBron-while-in-Cleveland like. Brotus goes for Dashing Cody. I hope they can find some damn rhythm in the ring, ’cause it ain’t in there now. Curtis gets Viper’d. Not sure how you can botch this one. Oh wait, nevermind. Curtis displayed a perfect demonstration on how. Lastly, we’ve got Saxton (my personal fave), who gets HBK. Hmm, guess he skips through the entrances on his DVR, ’cause I’m not sure how you watch WWE and not know that theme. Well, Saxton wins via crowd reaction.

Back from the bill paying, we’ve got a video for Jacob Novak. He reminds me of a feminine looking JBL.

Chris Masters/Byron Saxton vs. Ted DiBiase/Brotus Clay

Saxton and Brotus start off, with the latter dominating with size early on. Quick tag to Masters, and we’ve got a power vs. power match up. A few punch and kick exchanges, but Brotus gains a quick advantage via whip to the corner. Missed charge by Brotus and a Masterlock attempt, but DiBiase breaks it up, allowing Brotus to get a belly to belly on Masters. With momentum switched, we’re rolling right into a commercial.

Back to DiBiase with a facelock on Masters. Masters fights out of it, though, only for DiBiase to hit a dropkick and a nearfall. Tag to Brotus, followed by a squash in the corner. Damn, this guy looks promising. Fists to the back of Masters, followed by a backhand to the chest. Masters is isolated in the corner as DiBiase gets the tag. Masters fights back with chops and punches, but DiBiase hits a huge dropkick, followed by a nearfall. Brotus guillotines Masters on the second rope. Masters, though, fights back with a Samoan drop. Saxton gets tagged in only to get a drop toe hold from DiBiase. Brotus gets the tag and dominates. A spinebuster later, DiBiase gets tagged in, and misses a knee. Masters gets tagged and chops away, followed by a shoulder tackle and a spinebuster. Pin attempt gets interrupted by Brotus. Masters calls for the Masterlock, but Saxton makes the blind tag, only to get hit with Dream Streak, and this one is over.

This match was basically a showcase for Brotus Clay, who seemed to show potential.

Backstage with Derrick Bateman and Daniel Bryan, as the later shows a heel (the body part) submission to the rookie. Basically, Bateman has ADD. And we’re paying some bills.

Immunity Challenge via Obstacle Course

Ah, an obstacle course, is it? And TWO immunity points?! Huzzah! Johnny Curtis ends up winning, after initially being disqualified.

Speaking of which, we’re followed by a video package of Mister Curtis. Dude’s actually got a decent sense of humor. Well, conversationally, anyway. We’ll see how it translates to promo work.

Raw recap and we’re checking a backstage promo of Jacob Novak hitting on Vickie Guerrero before Ziggler walks in. Ooooh, trouble in para….damn, can’t use any of these phrases without referring to a finisher!

Alberto Del Rio vs. Derrick Bateman

Del Rio taunts Bateman a bit before gaining the advantage with a few snapmares followed by a chinlock. This is followed by a reversal attempt by Bateman, who gets dropped and punched by the Latin JBL. Irish whip and a belly-to-back suplex leads to Del Rio applying the chinlock once again. Bateman elbows back only to be punched and whipped into a corner. Charge missed by Del Rio as Bateman fires a few rights and hits an inverted neckbreaker with a nearfall. Missed dropkick by Bateman as Del Rio rams him into the corner. Del Rio hits his cross armbar and that’s a tap, my friends.

Adieu.

I like my wrestling almost as much as I do my coffee. And I do love my coffee, as you can tell how much it's affected my skin tone.
