Fresh off of the wheels of SmackDown, we are rolling into NXT, people. Forgive my not-as-opinionated recap this week. Fighting off a bit of a cold, but I do thank you for bearing with me.

We start with a recap of last week’s obstacle course, specifically to Johnny Curtis and his “controversial” win. Intro and pyro is followed by Matt Stryker bringing in all the rookies to the stage. We’re off to another obstacle course, this time with a wheelbarrow. Oh, apparently, the wheelbarrow is going to carry Jack Swagger’s eagle. So, we’re running around the ring with an eagle in a wheelbarrow…huh. And after a good amount of mocking what they’re doing, and rather funny commentary from both Grisham and Ziggler, Derrick Bateman wins the immunity point.

And, we’re back to a tag match between Jacob Novak/Dolph Ziggler and Johnny Curtis/JTG? Really? Avoiding all the racial context behind switching Truth and JTG, Jacob Novak takes complete control of the match, dumping Curtis outside early on, bringing him back in, and following with an Irish Whip and a leg drop. Side slam by Novak, nearfall, and a resthold. Oh, my apologies, this apparently isn’t a tag match. The pros are just chillin’ like villains at the corners. Curtis fights back with a back drop. Both men up, and Curtis fires with some European uppercuts, a “kitchen sink”, and a nearfall. Curtis delivesrs a snap suplex and another nearfall. Curtis has an armbar, but Ziggler gets him off while the ref was distracted. This leads to a boot and a pin, which dictates a win for Novak.

Video package for Derrick Bateman. He’s kinda “nerdy cool”. He’s already got me as a fan with that horribly catchy adjective: “man-tastic”.

Commercials. A Divas Calendar? Not very PG. Hooray!

Video package for Conor O’Brian aka “The Rat”. Hmm. I….really don’t have much of a comment about this.

Backstage segment with Daniel Bryan trying to train with Derrick Bateman, who’s got his nose in a book. The exchanges between these two aren’t bad at all. Bateman and Bryan really do play off of each other well.

We’re back and everybody’s in the ring with Stryker. Apparently, WWE Trivia is the name of the game. Brotus gets eliminated first after naming Diesel as a King of the Ring winner. O’Brian gets the boot after naming Pee Wee Herman as a CITY that’s hosted Wrestlemania. Curtis is next after failing to name a city. Saxton is next after naming a WWE PPV that’s already been said. And Novak gets eliminated after not being able to name a WWE Champion. Bateman is the winner.

More backstage antics with Del Rio and Conor O’Brian.

And on to a 6-person mixed match match. We’re introduced to DiBiase, Maryse, and Brotus Clay. They’re facing Masters, Byron Saxton, and…Natalya. Nice. We start with the ladies as Maryse taunts away ’til Natalya goes on the offensive. A quick takedown, and Natalya is already going for the Sharpshooter. Maryse makes it to the ropes and tags in Clay, which leads Saxton to come in. Tie up and Clay obviously gets the strength advantage. Saxton is backed into a corner, and clay chops, whips, and belly to belly’s.

We’re back to DiBiase dropping knees on Saxton, followed by a nearfall and a chinlock. Saxton powers out and rams DiBiase into his corner. Masters gets the tag and whips, chops, and nearfalls. DiBiase gets the tag to Clay, though, and after a shoulder thrust in the corner, he’s in control. Masters fires back with a chop of his own and tags in Saxton. The rookies go at it as Clay eventually gets the upper hand. He delivers a belly to belly, followed by a rope assisted kick. A nearfall later, Saxton attempts to fight back with kicks and a knee to the face. DiBiase gets the tag and dropkicks Saxton to get the nearfall. Yay, a chinlock by DiBiase. The eventual comeback by Saxton leads to a “hot” tag to Masters, who powerslams DiBiase before a nearfall. A chop and whip is countered into the Million Dollar Dream, which is countered into a spinebuster. Clay gets involved, which distracts Masters enough to catch a dropkick. Clay adds a few cheap shots and DiBiase is in control. Masters attempts a comeback, but DiBiase hits an inverted backbreaker to a nearfall. A….chinlock is eventually fought out off and both Pros hit a clothesline. This leads to the rookies getting tagged in, and Clay hitting a running powerslam. Clay misses a Vader Bomb, which allows Saxton to get the three count.

That’s all, folks.

I like my wrestling almost as much as I do my coffee. And I do love my coffee, as you can tell how much it's affected my skin tone.
