Cain Velasquez Out Until The Summer Due To Shoulder Injury (UPDATED)

News

MMA Fighting has just broken the news that World Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez is out for six to eight months with a shoulder injury. Information is scarce at the moment, with the website’s sources declining to go into detail but UFC President Dana White has confirmed that Velasquez will be on the shelf until the summer. It is expected that number one contender Junior Dos Santos will simply wait for the champion to return to full health rather than take a stay-busy fight.

Update: A variety of sources, including MMA Junkie, is reporting that the injury is a torn rotator cuff and that the injury was sustained during the fight against Brock Lesnar.
