More Top Fights Rumored For UFC 128

News

There are yet more rumors about who will be joining World Light Heavyweight Champion Shogun Rua and challenger Rashad Evans for the UFC’s big March show in New Jersey. MMA Fighting has reports on what would be two huge matches for March 19th, the first being a clash at the top of the bantamweight division between former champion Eddie Wineland and former featherweight champion Urijah Faber. Wineland held the gold at 135Ibs four years ago and is on a four-fight win streak as he looks to climb the summit one more time, while Faber looks to continue the positive start he made to his bantamweight career when he choked out Takeya Mizugaki in the first round. With Wineland having the second longest winning streak in the division and Faber having been long marked out as a future title contender this may well be a final eliminator to determine who next faces champion Dominick Cruz.

At the other end of the weight spectrum its increasingly looking like that Brendan Schaub will not be facing Stefan Struve as reported yesterday but will instead face another faded veteran, this time Mirko Cro Cop. For Schaub this will be a chance to add a major name to his resume while for Cro Crop it may well be the last chance saloon for the former Pride superstar’s disappointing UFC career.
