The Wrap is reporting that Jeremy Renner will cameo in the upcoming Thor film as Hawkeye, the archer-themed superhero set to appear in the upcoming Joss Whedon directed Marvel Studios film The Avengers.
This latest rumor is reminiscent of buzz that first appeared when Renner did an interview with Empire Online last November and speculated that he might first show up in Thor before appearing as Hawkeye in The Avengers. This was before Renner had even been officially cast as Hawkeye, though, so it was all considered speculation.
Renner later told Moveline that there were no truth to the rumors that Hawkeye would appear in Thor.
The Wrap has spoken to an individual who has seen an early cut of Thor, though, who reports that Renner as Hawkeye appears in the film. While this source does not elaborate on the character’s role in the movie, he does state that Samuel L. Jackson does not appear as Nick Fury.
Thor is set for release from Paramount Pictures on May 6.
