Frankie Edgar To Face Anthony Pettis Next, Gray Maynard To Meet Winner

News

At the post-fight press conference UFC Vice President Craig Borsari announced that the absent Dana White had made the decision to proceed with plans for a unification match between the UFC and WEC champions despite the fact that the UFC Lightweight Title fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard had ended in a draw. This means that WEC Champion Anthony Pettis will be the man to next face Edgar, with Maynard having to make do with the promise of a title shot against the winner. Both Edgar and Maynard expressed disappointment at the decision with Edgar saying that he would prefer to reach ‘closure’ on his issue with Maynard before facing Pettis.
