UFC 126’s Kid Yamamoto vs. Demetrious Johnson to stream on Facebook

News

The UFC upped the number of televised prelims they will be broadcasting this Saturday to three as they added the Bantamweight bout between Kid Yamamoto and Demetrious Johnson and announced that it will stream live and free on Facebook.com. This is the second time the UFC will be utilizing their relationship with the social networking website after four prelim bouts were shown there last month from the Fight for the Troops 2 card. The UFC has been looking at new and creative ways to get their matches to their fans and the past couple months has also seen the Ion network become a host for the company.

To be able to watch the matches all fans have to do is “like” the UFC on their Facebook page. When they used that tactic for the Fight for the Troops they were able to rack up more than 60,000 new virtual fans and thus increased the number of people that they can advertise directly to through that site. Two other fights from UFC 126, Donald Cerrone vs. Paul Kelly and Chad Mendes vs. Michihiro Omigawa, will be made free to fans through the more traditional avenue that is Spike TV.

Kid Yamamoto will be making his first appearance inside the continental United States this Saturday as the Japanese standout looks to make a smooth transition from DREAM to the UFC. Johnson, his opponent, will also be making his UFC debut after compiling a 2-1 record in the WEC before the two organizations were merged.
