Fresh Setback For MMA Legalisation In New York

News

Hopes that a fresh push by the UFC would swiftly allow mixed martial arts back into New York State has been dealt a blow with the news that Governor Andrew Cuomo has not included provisions to legalise the sport in his latest budget. Last year his predecessor David Paterson included such language but it was eventually removed due to opposition from his own Democratic caucus. When asked for comment by MMA Junkie, UFC President Dana White admitted that it was a setback and refused to set a timeframe for the legalisation of the sport in New York.
