Grammy 2011 Review: Lady Gaga Disappoints With First “Born This Way” Performance?

Reviews

One couldn’t help feeling underwhelmed by Lady Gaga’s first performance of her newest single “Born This Way.” The song has already been described as an “Express Yourself” knock-off so the pressure was high when Gaga performed the song on Sunday at the 2011 Grammy Awards.

The singer only added to the hype when she arrived on the red carpet in an egg which she proceeded to hatch out of on stage during the song. For those looking for a deeper meaning, the egg was supposed to represent a womb as she was in her creative embryonic state.

While the egg left everyone wondering what the stunt would be during Gaga’s performance, there really wasn’t one. She just walked out of it like it was nothing out of the ordinary. If anything, it was the dancers who revealed more skin when they stripped off their costumes to reveal nude bodysuits.

While the singing was good, the performance lacked in the shock that Gaga has grown accustomed for.
