Bobby Lashley to meet James Jack in Titan FC 17 Main Event

News

Bobby Lashley, last seen being helped out of the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas after his humiliating loss to Chad Griggs last August has signed on to headline Titan FC 17 from Kansas City, Kansas on March 25. He will face M-1 Challenge veteran James Jack in what should be a winnable contest for him.

Lashley started his career 4-0 before being given an opportunity to compete in Strikeforce. His first fight there was against The Ultimate Fighter season 10 veteran Wes Sims and he lived up to the hype earning a first round stoppage. His next match, however, a mere six months later, saw him fare much worse as he entered his bout with Chad Griggs a heavy favorite but was not able to stop the Gravedigger. He did manage to win the first round on most scorecards but the second saw him run into Griggs’ heavy hands and even though he made it through the round the match was called between the second and third due to the beating Lashley took and the condition he was in.

The co-main event at the event will see recent UFC exile Phil Baroni try to get back on the right track as he takes on Bellator veteran Nick Nolte.

In a statement on Friday announcing the signing Titan FC CEO Joe Kelly said “Anyone who is writing Bobby off is making a huge mistake. I believe Titan Fighting will be the perfect platform for Bobby to prove his critics wrong.” He went on to say, “We received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the MMA community following out HDNet debut on January 28th. A lot of unique opportunities have presented themselves to Titan since the show and working with Bobby Lashley was one of them. We are really excited to be working with Bobby as he continues his pursuit of MMA greatness.”
