NFL News: New Orleans Saints Waive Jeremy Shockey

News

After three seasons, the New Orleans Saints have waived Jeremy Shockey. The Saints acquired Shockey in 2008 from the Giants for a second (Clint Sintim, LB) and fifth (rhett Bomar, QB) round pick following Kevin Boss’ competent performance in his absence. Shockey, often injured and occasionally plagued by questions about his dedication and attitude, nevertheless caught his 500th pass this season and compiled 408 yards and 3 touchdowns.

As a Giants’ fan, he could be a tough guy to root for. When he was good, he was amazing. When he was bad, his laughing after dropped passes and tipped balls could be infuriating. Regardless, he was one of the best to play the position over the last decade.
