Sony Pictures options Zombies vs Robots.

News, Projects

IDW has announced that Sony Pictures as optioned their popular comic series, Zombies vs Robots.

The series, created by writer Chris Ryall and artist/painter Ashley Wood, was launched in 2006.

Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes along with IDW and Circle of Confusion will co-produce the film.

In the comic, the last remaining human in the world is protected from a massive zombie horde by an arsenal of robots. However, when the robots accidentally reveal the human infant’s presence to the zombies, a massive battle ensues which becomes an all-out battle for the survival of mankind.

While I’m sadly getting a little burned out on how popular zombie films have become as of late, I think this one could have some entertaining potential. This is one film where I think Michael Bay’s involvement might not be the worst idea. That said I hope he maintains a producers stance and doesn’t decide to direct.
