Boston Celtics Make 2 Minor Trade Deadline Deals with Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers

News

From ESPN.com:

“Boston trades Marquis Daniels to Sacramento for a protected 2017 second-round pick and cash considerations.

Boston trades Semih Erden and Luke Harangody to Cleveland for a second-round pick.”

I don’t think we quite need outlooks for this one. Boston is trimming some fat and gave Cleveland a backup center (he isn’t good enough to really play in Boston, but in Cleveland…). Hargondy isn’t much, but is the cost of getting Erden. Interestingly, former Celtic Leon Powe was cut to make this deal work and may end up back in Boston.

Daniels is out for the year and Boston really isn’t going to get anything back from this. It’s a way for the Kings to maybe use Daniels as salary ballast later on in a deal.

Boston’s big Kendrick Perkins/Jeff Green deal is analyzed right here.
