Gilbert Melendez vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri Title Fight at Strikeforce April Event?

News

With the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix on a “temporary hold” of sorts/delayed until Summer, the organization is instead moving ahead with the April 9th show and have continued to lineup participants for said date, and although no city or venue has been officially named for the event, Oakland, California is once again a leading candidate.

The biggest news is that a lightweight title fight between Strikeforce Lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez and Tatsuya Kawajiri could be added to the card. The fight would be Kawajiri’s Strikeforce debut after a long career in Shooto and PRIDE.

The Heavyweight Grand Prix opening round will likely conclude on June 18 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX.
