Dayton Daily News has an interview with Jerry Lawler wherein it is noted that Lawler got his Monday Night Raw Color Commentary job at the last second when those in WWE turned on the television and saw Randy Savage on Nitro. PWInsider.com adds “Yeah, he literally walked out on Vince at the last possible second. For all the talk of the Stephanie rumors, people forget that Randy was literally traveling with Vince every week, working out of his house on booking, doing commentary, promotional work, etc. and one day was gone with no sign it was going to happen. I’ve had people tell me that was the first loss to WCW that really rattled Vince’s cage mentally.”
