Trent Reznor in talks for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

News, Projects, Rumors

Thinking back to the early 90’s, who would have ever thought that Trent Reznor, the man behind Nine Inch Nails, would ever follow in the footsteps of Danny Elfman and Clint Mansell by transitioning to film score composer?

Well, not only did he score a film, but he won a Golden Globe and Oscar with his first score for The Social Network.

Now Trent Reznor’s future looks to be full of film scores. Not only has he already signed on to score David Fincher’s Millenium Trilogy remakes, but now it seems likely he will join the production of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. It seems he is very likely to not only score this film adaptation of the book of the same name, but also act in the film. This would be his first foray into acting in feature films.

The film is slated to star Benjamin Walker as Lincoln, who must deal with attacks from the bloodthirsty undead. Reznor is said to be playing the vampire who kills Lincoln’s mother.

Director Timur Bekmambetov (Nightwatch) describes the film as “a very entertaining, epic history lesson,” Lincoln is also set to star: Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jimmi Simpson.

The film is set for a release date of June 22, 2012.

I read and enjoyed Pride and Prejudice and Zombies but it seems this theme of horrifing classic novels is getting blown out of proportion. Still, with Bekmambetov involved and Reznor doing the score this sounds like it will be a very entertaining flick.
