As confirmed by Dana White on ESPN’s MMA Live, Rashad Evans will fight whoever walks out of the octagon as the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion at UFC 128.
The original main-event for UFC 128 was scheduled to be Rashad Evans vs. Shogun Rua. After sitting out for almost a year, waiting for Shogun Rua to heal up after his surgery, Rashad Evans ended up suffering an injury of his own that forced him out of the bout he had waited so long for. After getting replaced by his teammate Jon “Bones” Jones, Evans’ position in the light heavyweight rankings was in question. Even the boss-man himself Dana White said that Evans was “crazy” to wait that long for a fight. With White’s recent announcement on MMA Live, it seems like Evans has his boss’ backing once again.
